We invite everyone to come out and celebrate with us! The Douglasville Police Department, in partnership with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, is sponsoring a Jamboree at our “House of Hope” located at 8304 Hollis Street, Douglasville, GA, on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 1pm – 6pm. The Jamboree will include information from several surrounding city & county resources, balloon animals, kids activities, food, music, and more. There will be something to do for everyone.
Please adhere to social distancing guidelines and bring masks. Parking available at Simpson’s Mortuary adjacent to the event.
The National Juried Arts Show attracts artists throughout Georgia, as well as states across the Country. The annual exhibit is open themed and open to all mediums, bringing a diverse collection from many artists with unique styles and subject matter.
Three expert judges will jury a select number of artworks into the exhibit, and the final group of work will be juried again to arrive at six top pieces that will earn awards and cash prizes. Prizes will be announced at the opening reception on September 2, 5-7 pm. The awards ceremony at the opening reception will be hosted by the Douglas County Art Guild. The cash prizes are sponsored by Miller Architecture and Planning.
This year’s jury panel welcomes three accredited Judges: Nikki Davidson, a professional artist owning Thunder Ridge Studio in Dallas, Ga., trained in California Community Colleges; Valerie Dibble, Professor of Art currently at KSU with a background in printmaking and photography; Shawn Campbell, holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Akron and a Master of Fine Arts from UGA. The Exhibit will be on display September 2-30, weekdays 9 am – 5 pm.

We will be having our Community Enrichment Meeting Thursday, September 9, at 7:00 pm at our Community House of Hope. We discuss different topics impacting our community and would appreciate more input from our community members. Please feel free to join us, the meetings last approximately one hour.
Join us on the front steps of the Douglasville Police Department on Saturday, September 18, at 11:00 am for our 2nd Annual Rally for Justice & Accountability. Come out to hear from Chief Sparks and other law enforcement leaders, elected officials, and other community leaders regarding our commitment to justice and accountability in the law enforcement profession.
On Tuesday, September 21 at 12:30 pm, the Douglasville Police Department is working in conjunction with the Atlanta Community Food Bank to distribute food to Douglas County residential households in need. This “free food drive thru” is on a first come, first serve basis while the food lasts. It is our goal to make this fast and easy. As vehicles enter for the distribution, they will line up and meet with a volunteer who will be asking reference households and then the vehicle will continue through the line where the food will be placed into the vehicle. The food will be placed either in the trunk or backseat, no need for anyone to exit the vehicle. If you have any questions or concerns on the event, please contact Sgt. This event replaces the Community Enrichment Meeting usually held the 4th Thursday of the month.

Topics will include creating a safe and secure space, adverse childhood experiences, and resources and services offered by the SHARE House. Join us for an informative evening on an important topic.
